About OGICA

Inspired by positive feedback and mandate from the Operations Geoscience conferences in 2014, 2016 and 2018 UKOGC (UK Operations Geoscience Competency) was created in 2015 to develop a universal CMS to assess competence via an independent verification system.

This evolved into OGICA in 2019 to focus on the development and launch of the online skills assessment. OGICA comprises three operations geoscientists with many years of industry experience in wellsite and operations geology, PPFG and geoscience contractor management.

Sadly our fourth member, Bob Fagg, has recently had to stand down. We'd like to thank him for for his ten years of outstanding contributions, support and hard work. He still remains a committed supporter of assessing skills and competency of operations geoscientists.

OGICA has now developed and launched an objective skills self-assessment for all operations geoscientists working in the upstream oil and gas industry. Following extensive peer review the OGICA online skills self assessment went live on March 19th 2020 at a modest cost of £80. OGICA is a not-for profit LLP (Limited Liability Partnership).
